PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a uniaxial actuator having an enlarged expansion/ contraction strokes and capable of setting large the swinging angle. SOLUTION: A pair of nuts 33a and 33b are installed at the ends of a hollow rotary member 32, and a first rod 34 is engaged with the nut 33a while a second rod 35 is engaged with the other nut 33b, and a linear guide means 41 restricts the rotation round the first rod 34 of a motor 39 to drive the rotary member 32 and admits the motor 39 to make linear motion in the axial direction of the first rod 34. When the rotary member 32 is rotated, it 32 elevates and sinks relative to the first rod 34. The motor 39 runs for itself and makes following-up after the elevation and sink of the rotary member 32. This precludes the motor 39 from making interference with the base, and a uniaxial actuator 31 having a large head swinging angle is accomplished.
