PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform magnification dividing printing or contraction integrating printing in small memory quantity by effectively utilizing memory resources. SOLUTION: The image data read by an image reading part to be digitalized is temporarily stored in the input buffer 15 of a printer 1. A control part 21 judges the content of image processing on the basis of the setting of printing indicated from an indication part 11 to control the compression and restoration timings of image data corresponding to the content of image processing. In the case of magnification processing, the image data is compressed to be stored and an image is subsequently magnified. In the case of contraction processing, image data is contracted and subsequently compressed and stored. By this constitution, a memory can be used effectively.
