PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wide display system that consists of a wide display device and of a tuner that is compatible with a digital turner, has excellent noise immunity in the case of a single operation or in an interlocking operation and can execute aspect control to obtain a stable image. SOLUTION: The wide display system consists of the tuner that has a D terminal and an aspect ratio discrimination means to discriminate aspect ratio information included in a control signal at the terminal D and has an interlocking mode where a communication means informs of the aspect ratio information and a single mode where the turner is singly in operation, and of the wide display device that users the communication means to receive the aspect ratio information from an external device, has an interlocking mode where the aspect ratio control means conducts prescribed aspect conversion processing on the basis of the aspect ratio information and a single mode where the aspect control means conducts prescribed aspect conversion processing on the basis of the result of detection of an aspect ratio in a video input signal by the aspect ratio detection means.
