PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such problem that it is impossible to display correct colors on a liquid crystal display by control using only temperature value in the case of portable type electronic equipment. SOLUTION: The CPU 10 of the portable type electronic equipment 1 is connected with a temperature detection circuit 5 and a voltage detection circuit 6. The temperature detection circuit 5 detects an operating temperature of the liquid crystal display 4, and the voltage detection circuit 6 detects a power source voltage supplied to the liquid crystal display 4. The CPU 10 determines a driving voltage of the liquid crystal display 4 according to a program stored in built-in ROM 13 and based on the values detected by the temperature detection circuit 5 and the voltage detection circuit 6. A liquid crystal driving circuit 14 drives the liquid crystal display 4 at a drive voltage instructed from the CPU 10. Thus, the liquid crystal display 4 is able to display correct colors even if the liquid crystal display 4 is of an electric field control double refraction system.
