PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for voltage monitoring which give a more adequate alarm according to the state of equipment and a digital camera which can use them. SOLUTION: The battery voltage of the power source of portable equipment having at least a 1st and a 2nd mode is monitored. A comparison voltage selection part 312 selects and outputs a 1st specific voltage provided corresponding to the 1st mode in the 1st mode and selects and outputs a 2nd specific voltage which is provided corresponding to the 2nd mode and different from the 1st given voltage in the 2nd mode. A lowest voltage comparison part 314 compares the current battery voltage with the value outputted from the comparison voltage selection part 312. An alarm process part 316 performs a predetermined alarm processing when it is decided that the battery voltage is lower than the value outputted from the comparison voltage selection part 312.
