PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet processing device having the relatively low-cost constitution of parts and also having the high ability to separate overlapped paper sheets. SOLUTION: This paper sheet processing device is provided with a lower carrying belt C and a driven roller 3 for carrying the paper sheets while pinching the paper sheets between them, a spring 12 for energizing the driven roller 13 toward the lower carrying belt C with the predetermined force, a pair of separating rollers A, B arranged in the downstream of the lower carrying belt C and the driven roller 3 with a space (d) larger than the thickness of one paper sheet and smaller than the thickness of two paper sheets and arranged so that the upper separating roller B can be moved in a direction for separating from the lower separating roller A when carrying the paper sheets, a spring 15c for energizing the separating roller B in a direction for coming close to the separating roller A with the predetermined force, and driving motors 9, 19 for rotating the separating rollers A, B in the same direction.
