PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a message display equipment in which its function is maintained even in the darkness of night without any surrounding light, and the electric power consumption is made zero or very small to save energy. SOLUTION: The display equipment has a message pigment layer 29 on which characters and graphics are displayed. A phoshorescent panel 31 which emits fluorescence by light energy and a light stimulating means 32 which irradiates the panel 31 with light beams having a specific wavelength are placed behind the layer 29 which is transparent or semitransparent. Also, the display equipment has a storage battery 22 which accumulates electromotive force of a solar panel 21 and a surrounding light detector 34 which detects surrounding illuminance. The battery 22 is charged up by the signals of the detector 34 during the daytime while the surrounding illuminance is high. During the nighttime while the surrounding illuminance is low, electric power is supplied from the battery 22 to the means 32 which is intermittently turned on for a certain time so that light energy is periodically accumulated in the panel 31. |
