PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately simply inspect the interior of an object to be inspected along the depth direction thereof. SOLUTION: In an ultrasonic probe is constituted so that a piezoelectric element 10, a matching material 12 having the input end surface 14 coming into close contact with the ultrasonic transmitting surface 11 of the piezoelectric element and the output end surface 15 brought into close contact with the surface of an object B to be inspected and a converging means 13 for converging the ultrasonic waves 4 transmitted from the piezoelectric element are provided and the ultrasonic waves transmitted from the piezoelectric element is converged to the interior of the object in such a state that the output end surface is brought into close contact with the surface of the object, the converging position of the ultrasonic waves transmitted from the piezoelectric element continues linearly in the object along the depth direction thereof in such a state that the output end surface is brought into close contact with the surface of the object.
