PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a persistently antistatic flame retardant which imparts both persistent antistatic properties and flame retardance to a resin composition without causing the lowering of mechanical properties, coloration, degradation, or the like, thereof. SOLUTION: This flame retardant contains, as the main ingredient, an aromatic polyether ester which has a polysiloxane backbone and 6-40C noncyclic hydrocarbon groups in the molecular structure.
