PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera apparatus with a range finding function capable of measuring a distance from a camera part to a pupil based on a photographed picture by the single camera part. SOLUTION: This apparatus has an AF camera part 1 for photographing a human face, a picture storage part 2 for temporarily storing face picture information based on a picture signal outputted from this part 1, an eye position detecting part 3 for detecting the positions of eyes in a face picture based on the face picture information and outputting eye position information, a pupil diameter measuring part 4 for measuring the pupil diameter of the eye based on the eye position information and the face picture information, a storage part 6 having information on corresponding relation between a measured pupil diameter and a distance from the camera part to the pupil in a real space, and a camera distance outputting part 5 for measuring a distance from the part 1 to the pupil in the real space based on the pupil diameter and the information on the corresponding relation. |
