PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that can avoid errors in pattern matching caused by extraction and use of an improper matching area so as to composite images with high accuracy in the case of the pattern matching. SOLUTION: A matching area discrimination section 4 discriminates whether a matching area extracted by a matching area extract section 3 is appropriate and the matching area extract section 3 extracts a new matching area again when the matching area discrimination section 4 discriminates that the matching area is inappropriate. Furthermore, a pattern matching result discrimination section 7 also discriminates the propriety of the matching result after a pattern matching section 6 conducts pattern matching, and the matching area extract section 3 extracts a new matching area again when the matching result is not appropriate. |
