PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum packaging apparatus in which one apparatus has both advantages that one lower chamber thereof has a planar type and a box-like body (concave body) type. SOLUTION: The vacuum packaging apparatus 1 is provided with a pressure resisting container 3 for containing a packaging bag 4, a vacuum pump 6 for reducing pressure in the pressure resisting container 3 and performing deaeration in the packaging bag 4, and a sealing unit 5 disposed in the pressure resisting container 3 to seal an opening of the packaging bag 4. The pressure resisting container 3 comprises a lower chamber 9, an intermediate chamber 10 and an upper chamber 11, and at least the intermediate chamber 10 is formed into the shape of a hollow frame body.
