As described with reference to drawings, a fuel assembly for a pressurized water reactor comprises a bundle of fuel rods interspersed with burnable poison rods. A burnable poison rod for insertion in a fuel assembly comprises, Fig. 3, a borosilicate glass tube 54, e.g. of " Pyrex " (Registered Trade Mark), located by a spring 53 and situated between an outer tube 46 and inner tube 57. The tubes 46, 57 may be of zircaloy or stainless steel. |
