Making an elastic filament by doubling a classical yarn formed from relatively short natural fibres or cut synthetic fibres, with an elastic polypivalolactone filament, the latter constituting 3-15% of the total, and being stretched to 10-100% elongation, then twisting the doubled fibre in a predetermined manner and allowing it to relax. The doubled fibre may be doubled with an identical fibre with opposite twist, the resultant product being fixed by heat treatment and relaxed. The classical yarn may be wrapped around the polypivalolactone filament or alternatively a composite product may be formed from two such wrapped products. |
