1,169,152. Curable polysulphide compositions. THIOKOL CHEMICAL CORP. 8 Feb., 1968 [24 Feb., 1967], No. 6417/68. Heading C3R. A curable composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a polysulphide polymer having a plurality of -SH or -SSH terminal groups, 50 to 300 parts by weight of bituminous material and, as curing agents, 0À5 to 10 parts by weight of elemental sulphur, 4 to 20 parts by weight of lead dioxide and 0À5 to 5 parts by weight of manganese dioxide. The composition may be prepared in two parts which are mixed before use, one part containing the polysulphide polymer, the sulphur and some or all of the bituminous material, and the second part containing the lead dioxide, manganese dioxide and the remainder of the bituminous material. The composition also may contain carbon black, clay, slate flour, limestone, calcium carbonate, magnesium silicate, aluminium oxide, titanium dioxide, zinc sulphide, silicon dioxide, iron oxide, rayon floe, chlorinated biphenyls, dibutyl phthalate, dipropylene glycol dibenzoate, di(butoxy-ethoxy-ethyl) adipate, di (butoxy - ethoxy - ethyl)formate, tricresyl phosphate or butyl benzyl phthalate. Examples are given. |
