PURPOSE: A method for automatically selecting/transmitting a local number of a communication equipment is provided to secure a rapid telephone call and to prevent a mal-dialing by an automatic dialing of a selected local telephone number without inquiring a guiding call and referring to an additional list on condition that a user does not know a local number to be called. CONSTITUTION: If a control unit senses an amount larger than a basic unit calling charge of a charge information amount of an off-hook of a handset, an inserted coin, or a telephone card(S1), a selection message for selecting a local area is displayed on a display unit(S2). Inputting or not of a button is sensed by a selection button constructed by a screen contacting method on the display unit(S3). If the button is inputted, a message for inputting a local number is displayed(S4). If a local number and an inherent number are inputted from a keypad in accordance with the displayed message(S7), the control unit displays the inputted key signal on the display unit(S8). If the final dial is sensed(S9), a local loop is occupied and the local number, a telephone number, and the inherent number being displayed as a DTMF signal are automatically transmitted to the responded person(S10).
