PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color conversion method, a color converter and a recording medium that can reproduce colors with higher fidelity in the case of compressing color correction data with respect to color image information in excess of a color reproduction area of an output color representation system into a color reproduction area. SOLUTION: In this invention, in the case that a point P corresponding to received color image information on a hue plane is compressed in an achromatic direction of the output color representation system, the point P is compressed to a point Q having visually the same hue as the entered color image information. Thus, an offset of a hue caused when a color corresponding to a point at the outside of the color reproduction area of the output color representation system is linearly compressed in a gray axis direction can be corrected so as to compress the colors while keeping the hue identity thereby attaining the color reproduction with higher fidelity. |
