PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for improving dictionary data which can improve the data of a dictionary for machine translation by automatically extracting compound word data capable of registration on the dictionary for machine translation while using bilingual documents describing on the same contents in two languages of an original language and an objective language for the machine translation of an object and using the translation candidate information of an original language morpheme and an objective language morpheme information, and to provide an information recording medium. SOLUTION: This device has a word dictionary 3 for objective language analysis, an objective language morpheme analysis processing part 5, word dictionary 4 for translation, an original language morpheme analysis processing part 6, a compound word candidate extracting part 8, a registration object data extracting part 10, and a dictionary data register part 11. With the bilingual documents describing on the same contents as an object, compound word candidates, for which the objective language morpheme with the connected translation candidates of continuous original language morphemes is used for the translated sentence, is extracted by the compound word candidate extracting part 8 and these data are registered on a dictionary data base 12 for translation by the dictionary data register part 11. |
