Compositions containing a prostaglandin active agent useful for reducing ocular hypertension

A composition having improved preservative efficacy and less ocular irritation comprises: (a) a prostaglandin active agent which is selected from the group consisting of 13,14-dihydro-15-keto-20-ethyl-PGF2a isopropyl ester and metabolites, derivatives and salts thereof or mixtures thereof; (b) an ophthalmic preservative; (c) a non-ionic tonicity adjusting agent, wherein the non-ionic tonicity adjusting agent is present in a concentration sufficient to: (i) adjust the tonicity of the composition and (ii) increase the preservative effectiveness and (d) an ophthalmically acceptable carrier.
