<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a peripheral monitor for vehicle in which the risk of collision against an object on the periphery of a vehicle can be monitored over the entire zone from a relatively short distance to a relatively long distance. SOLUTION: The peripheral monitor for vehicle comprises a transmission circuit 3 generating a transmission wave, an antenna 4 mounted on the periphery of or in the door mirror of a vehicle and radiating a transmission wave generated from the transmission circuit as a shaped beam having directivity spreading from the side and rear of its own vehicle to the region of adjacent lanes, a receiving circuit 6 for receiving the wave reflected from an object on the periphery of the vehicle through the antenna 5, an operating circuit 2 for operating the distance to the target based on the time elapsed before the transmission wave radiated from the transmission circuit is reflected on the object and received, operating a relative speed based on the Doppler frequency of the received radio wave and determining the risk of collision against the object based on the operation results, and LEDs 7, 8 for notifying the decision results of the operation circuit 2 to a driver depending on the degree of risk.</p> |
