PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for receiving and displaying an SART(search and rescue transponder) signal surely without requiring a significant modification of SAR. SOLUTION: After transmitting a transmission wave 103 or processing a receiving wave 104 to produce receiving complex data, an SAR transmitting/ receiving section 1 outputs the I component 101 and the Q component 102 of the receiving complex data which are then subjected to SAR processing at an SAR processing section 2 to produce an SAR image real signal 105. Subsequently, an SART processing section 3 extracts an SART signal from the I and Q component signals to produce an SART real signal 106. The SAR image real signal 105 and the SART real signal 106 are received and converted into display signals 107 at an image display section 4 before being presented on a display 5.
