PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereomicroscope whose operability at the time of observation is improved in observation circumstances peculiar to the stereomicroscope and which is constituted so that an operator is prevented from inadvertently touching a focusing operation member (focusing knob) at the time of observation. SOLUTION: This stereomicroscope is constituted of a microscopic lens body 1 equipped with an objective lens, a frame 5 constituted by arranging a placing plate on which a sample being an observation object is placed, guiding mechanisms 6 and 7 for performing focusing by driving the microscopic lens body and changing a distance between the microscopic lens body and the sample, focusing driving parts 7a, 8a, 9, 11 and 12 transmitting driving force to the movable part of the guiding mechanism, and a focusing operation part 10 giving the driving force to the focusing driving part so as to drive the guiding mechanism and capable of being operated from the outside. The guiding mechanism is installed at one end of the frame, the focusing driving part is installed inside the frame, and the focusing operation part is installed at the other end of the frame. As a result, a situation that observation is hard because the sample to be observed is shaken is prevented.
