<p>Methods and apparatus are provided for facilitating the sale and distributio n of handmade rugs. High resolution images are obtained of rugs (31) in the inventories of many rug merchants. The rugs are classified based on their ag e, size, color, design, layout, pattern, the type of pile and foundation materials, the knot, their overall design, and where they were made. Then th e images and attribute data are stored in a database (33). The database may be searched graphically by selecting one rug from a representative set of rugs displayed by the system.</p> |
