PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microlens substrate profitable in cost because of its simple manufacturing stages and excellent in quality because of its good accuracy in manufacture, and a method for manufacturing the microlens substrate. SOLUTION: The microlens substrate is characterized by that the microlens substrate has a base plate, a layer having variable wettability, whose wettability is variable and which is provided on the surface of the base plate, and plural microlenses provided on the layer having variable wettability.
