PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive and high-speed printer by reducing the processing burden on the printer. SOLUTION: The printer 3 sends printer information including information, etc., (mounting situation, the existence/absence of paper, and paper size) on each paper feeding device to a host device 1. When the device 1 is instructed to automatically select a paper feeding device (Yes in step S13), the device 1 checks whether or not there is a paper feeding device whose paper size coincides with the size of paper to be printed from now among paper feeding devices where those pieces of paper are set (S16) when the paper is set in some paper feeding devices on the basis of printer information (Yes in S14). When the paper feeding device whose paper size coincides exists (Yes in S16), the device 1 selects the paper feeding device (S17) and notifies it to the printer 3. The printer 3 performs printing by using the paper feeding device notified from the device 1.
