PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transfer device and a control method thereof, which can reduce the time required for controlling one of data transfer processing as short as possible so that a lot of data can be transferred at a high speed and the multiple execution of transfer for plural pieces of data can be performed. SOLUTION: This data transfer device is composed of a register group in a double layer structure. The register group of the first layer is composed of an address register 311 for storing a physical address to a main storage device 15 (refer to Fig. 1) to be the transfer destination or transfer source, a count register 312 showing a transfer quantity and a flag register 313 for storing the control data of a transfer direction or the like. Besides, the register group of the second layer is composed of an address register 301, a count register 302 and a flag register 303 connected for each register while respectively having the function similar to the said register group of the first layer.
