PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an image pickup device for endoscope with excellent operability by handling a camera cable and adjusting the gravity center of a camera head main body. SOLUTION: A projected position of a camera cable 5 is arranged nearly along an optical axis of an endoscope image from an endoscope eyepiece section 13 in the vicinity of an adaptor cover window 23a through which the endoscope image is captured into a camera main body 4a, and a weight 41 as a balance mechanism to keep a top and a bottom (vertical direction) of the camera main body 4a constant is built in at a lower side of the optical axis of the camera main body 4a in the vertical direction so as to set the gravity center of the camera main body 4a downward in the vertical direction. Thus, the image pickup device 4 for the endoscope can be realized whose operability can be enhanced through the handling of the camera cable 5 and the gravity center of the camera main body 4a.
