The carton for a flat object is produced from a blank in the form of a cross with a base (1) which carries side flaps made up of folded strips (4 - 7, 8 -11). These fix the object in position. Tabs (13, 14, 16, 17) are fitted to two of the strips (5, 9). These fit into slots (26 -29) in one of the other side flaps (25). The remaining flap (34) forms the lid and has tabs (32, 33) on its outside edge which fit into two more slots (30, 31) on the inside edge of the other side flap (25) to lock the carton together.
