One of n (an integer of 2 or above) kinds of common drive signal is generated selectively for each horizontal scanning. The selected common drive signal is shaped for each pixel depending on a printing signal to generate a drive signal delivered to each ejection drive element. The recording position in the horizontal scanning direction is adjusted using a position error shift adjusting value previously prepared in order to reduce the error of the recording position in the horizontal scanning direction for each of combinations, among all the combinations of the kind of common drive signals used for forward horizontal scanning and those used for the back horizontal scanning, that may be used in the printing of one page of a printing medium.
