PURPOSE: A method for controlling auxiliary air is provided to improve the performance of drive by feeding auxiliary air to an intake manifold, controlling auxiliary air, and then preventing the sudden variation of an intake air amount when operating a swirl control valve. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling auxiliary air comprises the steps of: determining whether the operating condition of a swirl control valve is satisfied(S1); opening an auxiliary air valve if the operating condition of the swirl control valve is satisfied(S2); operating the swirl control valve if the auxiliary air valve is opened(S3); closing the auxiliary air valve if the swirl control valve is operated(S4); determining whether the releasing condition of the swirl control valve is satisfied(S5); opening the auxiliary air valve if the releasing condition of the swirl control valve is satisfied(S6); and releasing the operation of the swirl control valve.
