PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which displays an elapsed time in a title by automatically generating tracks at arbitrary intervals of time, when only fast forwarding (quick listening) is available to a search for a desirable place to be listened to since there is no long-time break in continuous recording of an MD system. SOLUTION: Once recording to the storage part 5 of a storage medium 6 is started, an internal timer 1 measures the time and a control part 2 generates track data on a start address, a movement destination address, an end address, a title, etc., for automatic recording to the TOC 4 of the recording medium 6 in a memory in the control part 2 by each prescribed intervals of time. (The track data are written to the area of the TOC 4 of the recording medium 6, normally after a disk is unloaded and the recording is completed.) The track data generated by records through this constitution and markers capable of discriminating them are added.
