PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent taking time for development, to reduce a cost for development and to economically constitute a system itself in the development of a gas meter reading system for a multi-dwelling house. SOLUTION: In a system consisting of a center 1, telegraphic message meters 6 for outputting meter reading data and a transmitter 3 for transmitting the meter reading data inputted from the telegraphic message meter to the center through a telephone line, a master repeater 4 is provided between the transmitter and the telegraphic meters and a plurality of telegraphic meters are connected with the master repeater. Further, a plurality of slave repeaters 5 are connected with the master repeater with RS-422 and plural telegraphic message meters are connected with each slave repeaters. Further, a handy terminal 8 is made connectable with the transmitter to transmit and set function setting data from the handy terminal to the telegraphic message meters connected to the master repeater and the telegraphic message meters connected with the slave repeaters.
