The aim of the invention is to automatically monitor the supply of lubricants of a unit which is lubricated according to the oil and air lubrication principle. A method and two devices are provided by means of which oil streaks that move on the wall of the lubricant pipe are detected using capacitive or optoelectronic measuring and regulating means. Signals that depend on the wave movements of said streaks are used for control purposes.
