Voltage limiter for over-voltage occurring in a vehicle power network, e.g. outlets of alternators of automotive vehicles

The voltage limiter includes limiter units mounted in series with a power switch which is controlled by a control circuit, having high precision detectors which can detect an incident of high voltage surge over a threshold level, and on such detection, switches the power switch. The control unit includes units for detection the diminishing of the high voltage surge and for opening the power switch when the dissipation of the over-voltage is detected.
