FREQUENCY MODULATED OSCILLATOR USING NONRADIATING DIELECTRIC LINE AND RADAR SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a frequency modulated oscillator that has an excellent linearity and a small temperature fluctuation in spite of a simple configuration. SOLUTION: This invention provides the frequency modulation oscillator that consists of a Gunn diode oscillator where a Gunn diode 4 is mounted onto a side face of a metallic block 5 supported by conductor plates 1, 2, an oscillated signal from the Gunn diode 4 is propagated through a dielectric line 3, a bias board 7 supplies a bias voltage to the Gunn diode, and the oscillated signal from the Gunn diode is propagated to the dielectric line 3 by a metallic strip resonator 10 and of a variable resonator onto which a varactor diode is mounted to modulate the oscillated signal from the Gunn diode. A median of the oscillated frequency from the Gunn diode oscillator and a median of the resonance frequency of the variable resonator are adjusted to have a prescribed frequency difference so as to realize the frequency modulation oscillator with a simple configuration, excellent frequency linearity and a small temperature fluctuation.
