<p>An adapter (10) for use with a conventional point of sale card reader to interface with PDAs, wireless phones, and other handheld devices, through infrared or RF media. The signals from the handheld devices are converted to conventional magnetic stripe and/or smart card format, as required by the conventional POS card readers. The adpater (10) includes a credit card sized housing (12), a microprocessor (16), a transceiver circuit (24), and a POS interface (20) which can be either or both of a magnetic stripe emulator, and a smart card emulator.</p> |
