METHOD OF CACHING DATA

When a computer requests to retrieve data stored in a recording medium, it is decided whether there are cache hits for the requested data in a read buffer. Only the data that are not associated with the cache hits are retrieved from the recording medium and stored in the read buffer. The requested data are transferred from the read buffer to the computer. The address of the requested data is pre-read and stored so that it may be contiguous to the requested data. Thus, cache data can be used efficiently and effectively.
