PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents processing unit that can prevent a deterioration in image quality unexpected by a user from being caused due to irreversible compression. SOLUTION: This invention provides the contents processing unit applying processing to contents that is provided with an acquisition section 205 that acquires contents and with an information addition section that adds information denoting whether or not contents are original text data to the contents on the basis of the result of detection whether or not the contents acquired by the acquisition section 205 are the original text data available for digital data.
