PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor AC switch whose internal loss accompanying current conduction can be decreased. SOLUTION: The semiconductor AC switch 10 is provided with a MOSFET 11a incorporating a parasitic diode 11b, a gate drive circuit 12, a saturable reactor 13, and a polarity detection circuit 14. A rising voltage of the parasitic diode 11b is set to be an ON voltage or over when a specified current is supplied to the MOSFET 11a and when the semiconductor AC switch 10 conducts a current, the MOSFET 11a is conducted to be able to deliver the current in both directions.
