PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically measure whether or not each part of a power roller unit for a toroidal type continuously variable transmission can be normally operated. SOLUTION: Both the end parts of the above unit 4 are rested over paired bearers 42 and 42, the quantity of each displacement is measured with its displacement axis deviated in the axial direction in a state that its power roller 8 is held down by a power roller holding actuator 56. And the quantity of its rocking is also measured by reciprocating the power roller 8 around the center of its supporting axis part 25.
