PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable acoustic reproduction apparatus which can be used to be attached to a cassette deck of an external device and outputs a reproduced signal of a medium of a portable acoustic apparatus from an external acoustic apparatus as sounds. SOLUTION: The portable acoustic reproduction apparatus outputs a reproduced signal from a storage medium 2 from a headphone 20 when being independently used. A main body 1A having the same external shape as a compact audio cassette is directly set to the cassette deck of the external device, and the reproduced signal subjected to DA conversion by a DA conversion part 5 is converted to a magnetic signal by an electromagnetic conversion part 7 and is transmitted to a magnetic head 19 on the cassette deck side, and then the sound signal is reproduced from the recording medium 2, which the external device cannot reproduce, and is outputted from a speaker of the external acoustic apparatus. The operation of the cassette deck is discriminated by rotation detection of a hub 21 of a rotational frequency detection part 14 to control the operation of the main body 1A. Thus the operation burden to a driver is eliminated when the apparatus is set to an on-vehicle acoustic apparatus, and the cassette deck and the main body 1A are stopped by engine stop to prevent consumption of a battery, and the apparatus can be set to any of vertical insertion type, horizontal insertion type, and lidded cassette decks.
