PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system which, upon receipt of position information of a destination transmitted from a portable phone to a vehicle running towards the destination, sets a position of a person waiting at the destination as a destination, searches for a route, and periodically transmits the present position of the vehicle and an arrival estimation time to the portable phone of the person. SOLUTION: The person waiting at the destination measures the present position by a portable phone 1, calls a portable phone 4 of a person in the vehicle running towards the destination and transmits position information of the destination. An onboard navigation apparatus 3 when receiving the information searches for a route from the present position of the vehicle to the destination. At the same time, the apparatus calculates an arrival estimation time to the destination, transmits information on the present position of the vehicle and the arrival estimation time to the portable phone 1 of the person waiting at the destination, and displays a guide route to a display device 5 thereby starting guiding the vehicle to the destination. Information on the present position of the vehicle and the arrival estimation time to the destination are periodically transmitted to the portable phone 1 of the person waiting at the destination until the vehicle reaches the destination. |
