PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of a remote control light receiving unit at waiting time for remote control signals, while the unit is always maintained in a remote control signal receivable state. SOLUTION: A remote control light-receiving unit is provided with a signal discriminating circuit 17, which discriminates received remote control signals, a head amplifier 11 which supplies an electric power Vcc so as to set all circuit sections 11-16 constituting the unit to operating modes, when the remote control signals are received or amplifies the received remote control signals in a remote control signal waiting mode, and a power supply circuit 18, which only supplies the electric power Vcc to the head amplifier 11 which amplifies the received remote control signals, and the signal discriminating circuit 17 which receives the output of the amplifier 11 and interrupts the supply of the electric power Vcc to the other circuit sections 12-16.
