PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an error detection device for serial data communication capable of performing error decision of received data, i.e., deciding an error for each read frame by simple processing without interrupting. SOLUTION: This device consists of clock counting circuit/serial-parallel latch signal generation circuit 50 which receives a transmission and reception clock signal 7 and a frame signal 6 and outputs a latch signal 14 and the clock count signal 17, an S/P converting part 30 performing serial-parallel conversion of a down data signal 8, an FIFO part 40 storing received data on the basis of the signal 14 and the number of clocks count value 17 and a CPU 60.
