PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic device efficiently operating with high frequencies and a method for manufacturing this device. SOLUTION: This thin film magnetic device is constituted of a rectangular spiral coil 2 laminated on a substrate 5, a non-magnetic insulator 3 laminated on the coil 2, and a magnetic film 1 laminated on the non-magnetic insulator 3. In this magnetic film 1, a groove 1b is formed along the peripheral direction of the coil 2, and the magnetizing simple shaft of the rectangular magnetic film 1a formed between the adjacent grooves 1b is formed along the longitudinal direction of the rectangular magnetic film 1a.
