PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a chip type thermistor which reduces irregularity of electric characteristic due to material of a ceramic sintered body, and obtains excellent electrode sticking force by using a thick film electrode as an outer electrode. SOLUTION: This method is provided with a process for preparing a ceramic sintered body functioning as a thermistor, a process for forming a pair of first layer outer electrodes composed of thick films on both end surfaces in the length wise direction of the sintered body, a process for measuring electric characteristic between the outer electrodes and stratifying the sintered body on the basis of the measured results, a process for forming second layer outer electrodes composed of thick films which cover at least one of the first layer outer electrode on the basis of stratification, a process for forming third layer outer electrodes on the first layer outer electrodes and/or the second layer outer electrodes by using electroplating, and a process for forming fourth layer outer electrodes on the third layer outer electrodes by using electroplating.
