PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a structure simple and small-sized and to actualize the so-called 'soft landing' as to the landing of a magnetic head on a disk-like recording medium. SOLUTION: This disk drive device 1 is equipped with a magnetic head 45, which records or reproduces signals on and from a flexible magnetic disk 7 and a head arm 106 which supports the tip part of the magnetic head and is provided freely movably by a linear motor part 119 along the radius of the flexible magnetic disk or in parallel to it, and a cantilever arm part 108c which projects sideward is formed at the tip part of the head arm and a lifter 125, which acts on the cantilever arm part, is provided on the track of the cantilever arm part, when the head arm is moved by the linear motor part. An oblique surface 126d for landing is formed on the lifter and when the magnetic head is moved forward by the linear motor part, the cantilever arm part slides down on the oblique surface for landing, so as to complete the landing of the magnetic head on the flexible magnetic disk.
