ELECTRONIC PRINTING SYSTEM AND METHOD

A user of an electronic printing system (10) may design a custom print order via the user interface (30) by initiating a design request for a custom print design and submit the custom design for processing and printing. The electronic printing system (10) may store the design information until an order is placed. Every order may have an order file and associated design files. The design file(s) may describe the initial layout of a print design and updates the initial layout based upon the custom design. An imaging engine (resident on an image server (13b)) converts the design file(s) into a graphic file for on-screen representation and a process server (13d) converts the design file into a "ready to print" output file that may be retrieved electronically by a remote or local printer.
