A cooked food product particularly suitable for animals such as dogs comprises particulate textured vegetable protein, for example an oilseed, such as soybean protein, having distributed therethrough moisture, oils and meat flavours, and substantially uniform particles of meat adhering to the surface of said vegetable protein. The meat may be a natural meat such as animal, poultry, or fish, or a meat by-product. The product may be prepared by mixing 'together substantially uniform particles of raw meat, particulate textured vegetable protein, and water, and cooking so as to impregnate said protein with the water and with flavours and oils from the meat. |
