[Also in Division F2] In a valve construction wherein a landed spool is movable within a ceramic sleeve 12 which is coaxially disposed within, and is bonded to, the bore 44 of the valve housing 10, the sleeve and housing bore are so dimensioned as to form therebetween an annular space which contains the bonding agent. Bonding of the sleeve 12 to the bore 44 is effected by inserting suitably flanged plugs 48 into the ends of the sleeve such that the latter is centred within the bore, and inserting further plugs between ports 22 and psasages 24 in the sleeve and housing, respectively, the ports and passages in combination forming flow paths of the valve. Polyurethane, an interpolymer of butadiene and vinyl chloride or polyvinyl chloride is then injected into the annular space via narrow passages in flanges of plugs 48. Subsequent to curing, the plugs are withdrawn leaving a bonded sleeve.</p> |
